Modernisation and Renovation of Power Houses in Uttarakhand

At a board held meeting under the chairmanship of UJVN Limited Chairman Subhash Kumar, it was decided that promotions pending over four years of Assistant Engineers to Superintending Engineers would now be possible.
These promotions were withheld after the orders of the High Court and now will be made after having been cleared after court orders of 4 September, 2013. The Board also took the decision that the Nigam would be authorised to give IIT Roorkee the work of environmental impact assessment of the the existing as well as proposed projects in Gauri Ganga River Valley.
Chairman Subhash Kumar added that the returns for FY 2012-13 had been approved, in which Rs 18.43 crore of profit had been earned.
Approval was given to submitting a proposal to the Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Authority for modernisation and renovation of power houses in Ramnagar and Khatima
The Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University has been given the responsibility of estimating the environmental impact on rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi of Hydel Projects constructed, under-construction and proposed. The UJVN has also been empowered to draft a local development plan fund and present it to the government.
The Board has also given its consent to make necessary changes to the design of projects such as Assi Ganga- I (4.5 MW), Assi Ganga II (4.5 MW) and Dunav (1.5 MW) after the recent Uttarakhand disaster. Owing to changes that took place during the disaster, the modified DPR of Kaldigad Project (9 MW) was also approved. The proposal to promote Technical Assistants to Assistant Engineers was also cleared. It was also agreed to directly recruit Senior Personnel Officers and Office Assistants-3 (Accounts). Approval was granted to getting the Design and Engineering of Electrical and Technical Works for the Lakhwad Multipurpose Project (300 MW) done by the Central Power Authority, Government of India. The fresh estimate for the RMU Works of the Tiloth Power House (90 MW) was also approved.
Present at the meeting were CM Vasudev, Director BP Pandey, Secretary, Power, MC Joshi, Additional Secretary, Power, SC Sen, Director, GP Patel, Managing Director Sandeep Singhal, Director SK Chopra, Executive Directors CP Madan and Purushottam Singh.
