Shri Dharmendra Pradhan assumes charge in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas as Minister of State (Independent Charge)

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan took charge in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) here today. 

Speaking to the mediapersons thereafter, Shri Pradhan said that his focus would be to meet the expectations of the poor and the middle-class people of the country. He said that the people of the country have large expectations from the new government and this government is dedicated to the welfare of the poor. Shri Pradhan said that India needs to reduce import dependence and secure energy needs, so that it becomes self-reliant. He said that the Indian economy has an important role in the world economy, and he would endeavour to make contribution to this effect. Shri Pradhan said that he would consult senior colleagues in the Government and would like to formulate holistic policies, in tune with the guidance and vision of the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. Shri Pradhan said that the earnest efforts will be made to bring back the economy on the track of progress and development. He said that he would study the issues, being dealt in the Ministry, and discuss them with senior officers, so that decisions could be formulated in the interest of the poor and the country. 

Shri Pradhan also had detailed briefing about the issues in the Ministry in a meeting with the senior officials.
